“Do you have the courage?  Do you have the courage to bring forth this work?
The treasures that are hidden inside you are hoping you will say yes."

I have always been drawn to questions of purpose, meaning, and how to express myself and connect.  I believe that we all born with inherent gifts and talents that yearn to be expressed in our own unique way.  For many of us, we have learned to protect these inner qualities rather than developing and sharing them, and my journey has led me to seek out understanding of how people actually grow into the fullest expression of themselves.  It has been a journey of learning about myself (particularly what hinders full self-expression), so that I can best support others on this path of  development and transformation.

Being curious about this topic from a young age, I was drawn to the study of psychology.  I majored in psychology at the University of Michigan and found that I was called to learn more about the forces that impede people’s growth, development, and mental health functioning.  I obtained an M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Denver.

During my career, I have enjoyed working with adolescents, adults, and families in various mental health settings including medical centers, outpatient mental health settings, and residential treatment centers for adolescents. These professional experiences have allowed me to see how different levels and types of trauma as well as social, familial, and biological challenges impact an individual’s development.  I have experienced how deep and attentive listening and thoughtful intervention can lead to significant transition and growth.

During my professional development, I have also been drawn to the power of groups in supporting growth and healing.  I studied at the Center for Group Studies in New York City to learn how the group “container” supports individuals in understanding their resistances, allows individuals to shift how they view themselves and how they interact in the world, and how a group can increase feelings of belonging and empowerment.  In addition, I have benefitted from being part of a process/consultation group of my own for the past twelve years to learn about my own resistances, blind spots, and ability to make meaningful connections.

Along the way, I have also found that these questions of connection and transformation are often closely linked to one’s sense of inner purpose, soulfulness, and spirituality.  I was drawn to learn more about other forms of wisdom including meditation, dream work, intuition, and how to live one’s unique purpose in a grounded, everyday manner.  I yearned for a way to combine my interest in purpose/self-discovery and psychological development and found a meaningful way through the Purpose Guides Institute.  I obtained my certification as a Purpose Guide through the Purpose Guides Institute as a way to incorporate my interests and life experiences, which has led to very rich and fulfilling work and experiences in the world.

"Working with Candace in the soul work was very helpful and enlightening for me. She is a great listener and a person of integrity... She genuinely seems suited for this type of work with people. Candace shows true compassion, care and empathy in tender subject matters.

I would highly recommend Candace to others interested in delving deeper into the realm of heart and soul."

“It is an absolute human certainty that no one can know his own beauty or perceive a sense of his own worth until it has been reflected back to him in the mirror of another loving, caring human being.”
